PLMJ’s M&A work recognised in the press

28/04/2017

PLMJ’s results in M&A work in the first quarter of 2017 have been featured in the newspaper Jornal Económico.

From the beginning of the year until then end of March, the firm advised on 38 deals in Portugal with a value of €8.3 billion. This exceeded the firm's total value for the whole of 2016 according to data from Transactional Track Record (TTR).

PLMJ advised on deals with a value of €8.3 million, but the firm also advised on other deals that so not appear in the TTR quarterly report because they began in 2016. These deals include the private consortium with the winning bid in the TAP privatisation, Santoro in the BPI takeover bid by CaixaBank (€644 million) and Novabase in the sale of IMS to Vinci (€44 million).

According to Diogo Perestrelo, the PLMJ partner who heads the M&A team, "the prospects for M&A work in 2017 are very positive. We have witnessed growing interest in Portugal by foreign investors. However, their profile is different to the one we saw in the ‘troika years’. They have a longer term vision and reputable, large-scale foreign funds and thismeans they are of much greater interest to the country".
