The number of those resorting to arbitration as an alternative dispute resolution mechanism has undergone a major increase in recent years and today it is a favoured and effective solution for settling certain types of disputes for which the judicial courts have not been able to provide a satisfactory response, either due to the complexity of the cases or the slow pace of state justice. Arbitration has been one of the areas where PLMJ has focused its efforts most heavily, with a specialised arbitration team that accompanies an ever-growing number of both national and international cases. Besides representing clients in arbitration proceedings, several of the firm’s lawyers have been asked to sit as arbitrators in cases with third parties. Along with arbitration, other alternative dispute resolution mechanisms have also received due attention and special investment is being made in the area of mediation in the expectation that this may well become an effective economic resource for settling certain disputes in the near future. “Arbitration has been one of the areas where PLMJ has focused its efforts most heavily, with a specialised arbitration team that accompanies an ever-growing number of both national and international cases”
