PLMJ’S Public Law Practice continues most active in the lecturing of clear- up sessions on the New  CCP.

PLMJ Partner, Pedro Melo, shall be, the 19^th of November, in the capital of the Azores, Ponta Delgada, to render formation, namely on construction and concession public contracts, to the Azores Electricity’s superior staff; the 20^th of November participating as a speaker on the “Azores Construction Fair” and, the 27^th of November, together with PLMJ’s Senior Associate Diogo Duarte Campos, in the Terceira Island giving formation the superior staff of the Municipality of the Praia da Vitória.

Ricardo Oliveira and Ana Rodrigues Ventura, PLMJ Lawyers with the Firm’s Multidisciplinary International Commerce Team contributed with their experience on international commercial contracting with two interventions in the Conference entitled “NUCLEAR ASPECTS  OF THE INTERNATIONAL COMMERCE  OPERATIONS "  promoted by NPF.

Ana Rodrigues Ventura centered her intervention on “The Importance of INCOTERMS within International Commerce”  followed by Ricardo Oliveira who set his focus on the issue "Competition Law and the Portuguese Regulatory Authorities –  Its Importance by the light of  International Contracts” .

Ricardo Oliveira is a PLMJ Partner with the EU Law and Competition Area of Practice while Ana Rodrigues Ventura is a Senior Associate with the Firm’s Energy and Natural Resources Practice.

Daniel Reis, PLMJ Senior Associate with the Firm’s IT and Telecommunications area of practice,  participated the past 11^th and 12^th of November, in the 9^th edition of the INFOSEC Conference  promoted by IFE, International Faculty for Executives.

Daniel Reis addressed the“ CONFERENCE ON INFORMATION SYSTEMS’ SAFETY”, with the theme "Legal Aspects on Information Security Systems“

Paula Martinho da Silva, PLMJ Associate heading the Firm’s Life Sciences Multidisciplinary Team and President of the National Ethics Committee for Life Sciences  is one of the authors of the joint publication “Biomedics investigation. Ethics Considerations” which was launched the past 13^th of November at the Lisbon University Sciences  Museum under the  support of the  National Ethics Committee for Life Sciences and  Editor Gradiva.

Professor Walter Osswald made its presentation.

The Portuguese Arbitration Association elected, early this month, its new Board of Directors which is as from then, presided by Dr. José Robin de Andrade with the support of the newly elected  Members: José Miguel Júdice (PLMJ Partner and Founder heading the Firm’s Arbitration Team) Antóno Sampaio Caramelo, Dário Moura Vicente and Pedro Siza Vieira.

Pedro Metello de Nápoles (PLMJ Partner with the Firm’s Arbitration Team) was also elected as Chief Executive Secretary of the new Board.

Next Friday, the 14^th of November, following an invitation by the Leiria Business Association (NERLEI), PLMJ Tax Law Practice, coordinated by Equity Partner Rogério M. Fernandes Ferreira, promotes a  clearing up session on the new State Budget Proposal for 2009 to businessmen from the Center region of Portugal.

Besides the Opening, presided by Rogério M. Fernandes Ferreira , the Session shall count with the participation of other Partners, Senior Associates and Associates   from the same Tax Law Practice team in the panels “DIRECT  IMPACT OF THE 2009 STATE  BUDGET PROPOSAL ON ENTERPRISES”  and. “TAX LITIGATION AT ENTERPRISES’ SERVICE “

PLMJ, within a joint collaboration with the Portuguese-French Chamber of Commerce, promotes, the next 18^th of November, at the Firm’s premises in Lisbon, another Legal Encounter which is dedicated, this time, to “Environmental  Liability and Environment Risk within PPP” .

Tomorrow, the 7^th of November, shall take place in Lisbon the Conference“ Platform for the Support of Portuguese Investment in Eastern Europe”.

The Conference promoted by PLMJ with the support of AIP and the Embassys, to be held at the Lisbon Center of Congresses (former FIL), from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and dinamized in PLMJ by the Firm’s ”German Desk”, the German speaking team of Lawyers headed by Equity Partner Vasco Ataíde Marques, is a joint initiative of the Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania Embassies in Lisbon, PLMJ, AIP (Portuguese Industry Association) and reputed Law Firms from these countries, in order to create a platform to promote and facilitate  portuguese investment in Eastern Europe.

It shall  include presentations in English of the legal investment framework of the jurisdictions in question and an overview on Austrian economy  specially regarding the incentives for the installation of companies who want  to invest in the East of Europe from Austria.
