2012-05-02
It is with great satisfaction that PLMJ announces the promotion of three partners and four senior associates, as well as confirming the international careers of two senior associates who are experts in the Angolan and Mozambican markets. PLMJ has appointed one new equity partner, two new salaried partners and four senior associates, providing an important step in the continuing policy of organic growth and acknowledging the merit, expertise and leadership skills of its lawyers. The firm now has 46 partners from a total of 226 lawyers. Pedro Metello de Nápoles – of the arbitration and litigation practice - was made an equity partner, as a result of his work in the context of complex domestic and international arbitrations. He is also responsible for the coordination between PLMJ and GLA - Angola, a member of the PLMJ International Legal Network. Magda Viçoso (specialist in capital markets) and Hugo Rosa Ferreira (specialist in banking law) will become PLMJ salaried partners. The two young, highly skilled lawyers from of the banking, finance and capital markets practices, have, over the last years, regularly participated in the largest and most complex financial transactions that have been handled by PLMJ. These include the privatisation of EDP, REN, LBW, Cimpor and other financial transactions handled by the investment funds and capital markets groups. The same strategy of organic growth resulted in the promotion of four new senior associates; from the corporate and M&A practice Eduardo Finamore Correia and Joanna Brandão (PLMJ’s Oporto office), Rodrigo Formigal from banking and finance, and Catarina Guedes de Carvalho, from the litigation practice - restructuring and insolvency group. PLMJ also announced two new senior associates joining the international career programme: Bruno Xavier Pina, an expert on the Angolan markets and Miguel Spinola who has extensive experience in Mozambique. Both lawyers work on PLMJ’s Africa Desk and work on a daily basis with PLMJ International legal Network members in Luanda - GLA Angola and in Maputo - GLM - Mozambique.

These promotions confirm that PLMJ continues to invest in the progression and ongoing development of its lawyers’ careers, recognising their personal qualities and professional merits and focusing on their major contribution to strengthening the competitiveness and efficiency of our firm.
