PLMJ promotes five new senior associates and consolidates its position as Portugal’s largest and most senior law firm

12/01/2017

PLMJ – Law Firm has just promoted five of its lawyers to the position of senior associate. In doing so, it has taken yet another step in the policy of organic growth that characterises Portugal’s largest law firm. This step also recognises the merit, high degree of specialisation and leadership capacity of its lawyers.

The new senior associates were chosen on the basis of the excellence of the work they have produced and on their daily contribution to strengthening PLMJ’s competitiveness and reputation. They are:

  • José Maria Formosinho Sanchez, who is dedicated to criminal and compliance matters;
  • Pedro Ferreira de Sousa, who is dedicated to employment and labour, litigation at PLMJ’s office in Porto;
  • Samantha Zürn, who is a member of the PLMJ German Desk;
  • Rute Alves, who is dedicated to arbitration and alternative dispute resolution;
  • Mafalda Coelho Moreira, who is a member of the PLMJ Tax team at the Porto office.

For PLMJ managing partner, Luís Pais Antunes, the promotion of these new senior associates is recognition of the professional and personal qualities, and merit of these lawyers. It also represents a heightened challenge to them to develop their client management and team leadership capacities, which will be increasingly put to the test in the defence of their clients’ interests.”
“These promotions are also a way for PLMJ, in line with its challenging and rigorous career progression policy, to renew the commitment it has made to valuing its lawyers and to achieving organic growth. These values are part of PLMJ’s DNA.”

This is yet another step in consolidating the strategy of PLMJ, which, over 50 years of history, has managed to build generation after generation of lawyers whose talent in the market is unmatched, while focusing keenly on young, dynamic teams.

With these promotions, PLMJ begins 2017 – the year in which it celebrates its 50th anniversary – with the new energy and dynamic it needs to face the challenges of maintaining its leading position in Portugal and the growing international status it has achieved, particularly in the Portuguese-speaking world.

PLMJ has strengthened its position as Portugal’s largest law firm, with a total of 290 lawyers, including 65 senior associates, and a presence in Portugal, Portuguese-speaking African and the main European markets.
