"Investors' reaction to solar has been positive"

Ines Pinto da Costa, a partner in PLMJ’s Corporate M&A and Private Equity practices, was recently interviewed by the magazine Jornal Económico about changes to the legislation in the renewable energies sector. The interview also addressed the solar energy auction and the lawyer believes investors reacted positively to it.

“The new legislative framework is intended to combat the electricity network’s lack of capacity for reception. This is a legitimate priority in view of the panorama of licensing of renewable energy projects in Portugal in recent years, and it seems to be effective,” says the lawyer.

As regards the fragility of Decree-Law 76/2019, Inês Pinto da Costa points to “the fact it requires active and subsequent involvement by regulatory and other bodies that are engaged in the licensing procedures and which are obviously not covered by the obligations imposed primarily on the promoters.”
