Meeting of Doctors and Recent Doctors in Arbitration at UCP in Porto on 23 March

The first Meeting of Doctors and Recent Doctors in Arbitration has been organised by UCP in Porto. The members of its scientific committee are Joao Loreto Ilhao Moreira, of the University of Oxford, Marta Vicente of Universidade Católica Portuguesa, and Professors Agostinho Guedes and Manuel Fontaine

The aim of the event is to bring together doctoral students from Portuguese- and Spanish-speaking countries. It will feature three panels that will address the topics: “Interdisciplinary research into arbitration law”, “Research into arbitration and European Union law” and “Research into commercial arbitration”.

The speakers on these panels include Bruno Guandalini (Faculty of Law of the University of Nice), João Ilhão Moreira (Faculty of Law of the University of Oxford), Cláudia Saavedra Pinto (Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra), Marta Vicente (Faculty of Law of UCP Porto - FDUC), Sílvia Bessa Venda (Faculty of Law, UCP School of Porto), André Martins (Faculty of Law, UCP School of Porto), André Luís Monteiro (Pontifícia Universidade Católica of São Paulo), and António Pedro Pinto Monteiro (senior associate from PLMJ Arbitration). Manuel Cavaleiro Brandão, a partner from PLMJ Arbitration, will be the moderator of the first panel. José Miguel Júdice, founding partner at PLMJ Arbitration,  will make the opening speech at the meeting, when he will address the topic of “The state of arbitration in Portuguese-speaking countries”. 

The event takes place on 23 March between 14h and 18.30h at the Foz campus of Universidade Católica in Porto. At the event is free, but requires prior registration using this form.
