We believe it is vital to encourage participation in initiatives that stimulate cultural thinking, creativity and art.

The challenges of cultural production are a significant social problem, especially in Portuguese-speaking countries. Our cultural intervention takes place primarily through the PLMJ Foundation. The Foundation has a singular role in promoting visual arts by creating an art collection and supporting young artists from Portugal and from African countries whose official language is Portuguese.

We believe it is necessary to encourage our internal and external public to take part in initiatives that stimulate cultural thinking, creativity and art. These initiatives may be conferences, seminars, exhibitions or the publication of books or opinion articles, among others.

Over the course of more than 20 years, the PLMJ Foundation has helped to launch and then support big names in the art scenes of Portugal and other Portuguese-speaking countries. We have more than 1300 pieces, including photographs, drawings, videos, sculptures and paintings, and a total of more than 150 artists are represented.
