Maria João Mata, the partner who heads PLMJ’s M&A team, has spoken to the magazine Iberian Lawyer for an article on the growth in M&A work for law firms. Mata explains there has been an increase in domestic and cross-border M&A work and, although much of this results from distressed sale or divestitures, Portugal is beginning to see some growth-driven deals.
“One way to make a difference is finding new ways to reach the client, such as identifying business opportunities together, rather than waiting for the client to let us know about a potential target”, says Mata.
