PLMJ sponsors ICC Advanced Seminar in Arbitration

PLMJ is sponsoring the fourth edition of Advanced Seminar in Arbitration, which is an initiative of the International Chamber of Commerce in Portugal. The event takes place on 11 December at the offices of the ICC.

According to its organisers, this seminar is "a unique opportunity to see close-up the various phases of arbitration proceedings under the ICC Regulations. It will focus, in particular, on the changes introduced in 27, including the new on expedited arbitrations and the most recent policies of the organisation to increase transparency and efficiency in arbitrations."

José Miguel Júdice, the partner who heads PLMJ Arbitration, will be a member of the panel on "The arbitral award". This session will address the following topics:

  • Procedural and formal aspects of the arbitral awards
  • Need for grounds and prior examination of the arbitral award by the tribunal
  • Correction and interpretation of the arbitral award – common practice?
  • Decision as to costs and fees
  • Recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards – The NY Convention
  • Scrutiny of an arbitral award

The seminar "is intended for lawyers and legal from companies involved in international commercial arbitration, and for law students and professionals interested international dispute resolution issues."
