The PLMJ Foundation was honoured, for the second year in a row, with significant international recognition in the context of the cultural project, the Corporate Art Awards 2018 ("Art patrons of the 21st century"). The ceremony, held on 28 and 29 at the European Parliament in Brussels, was attended by senior associate Patricia Dias Mendes, as PLMJ’s representative.

This event took place in the context and in connection with the celebration of the European Cultural Heritage Year and the PLMJ Foundation was selected and recognised for its role in promoting artistic creation from the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP).

The event, which has been held annually since 2016, recognises projects in the business world that promote excellence in cultural patronage. It is organised by a partnership of pptArt, LUISS Business School and the Italian Ministry of Culture. The participants include a diverse set of corporate art collections from all continents: the World Bank, the British Council, the Central Bank of Argentina, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the University of Auckland (New Zealand), Bulgari, FIAT, Fendi, BMW, Vranken-Pommery Monopole, HBC, American Express, among others.

For Luis Sáragga Leal, President of the PLMJ Foundation and founding partner of PLMJ, “this award reflects the growing international recognition of the importance of the Foundation’s work, which is founded on a programme that seeks to stimulate the continued promotion and dissemination of artistic creation, with a particular and innovative focus on Portuguese-speaking countries”.

Created in 2001, the PLMJ Foundation is recognised not only for the breadth of its collection of Portuguese contemporary art (in line with the international expansion of the firm that created it, PLMJ), but also for its philosophy and motto "a law firm as a space for culture".
