2018-03-02

Tiago Mendonça de Castro, the partner who heads PLMJ Real Estate and Construction, as spoken to the newspaper Jornal Económico about the current state of the Portuguese property market.

It is equally important to implement the measures necessary to guarantee sustainability of the sector".

When it comes to the legal difficulties that still exist in terms of incentivising property investment, Mendonça de Castro also points out that the legal constraints that exist which are, above all, in matters specific or parallel to this sector, are regulated independently. "By way of example, one of these matters is the legislation on urban letting, which has been subject to successive amendments over recent years. These amendments have been relevant to investors and they currently result in various impasses that do not go well with investors' need for certainty".
