PLMJ has always been dedicated to the pursuit of innovation and on improving processes and efficiency in the day-to-day running of the firm. This approach is reflected in the firm’s appearance, for the 7th consecutive year, in the Financial Times ranking 'Innovative lawyers 2017: Top 50 Law Firms and Legal Service Providers'. PLMJ appears on this ranking alongside the world's leading law firms.

The Financial Times  (FT) lists PLMJ as a "recommended" firm in the category of Data, Knowledge and Intelligence, and highlights the PLMJ Mega Wave cycle of conferences. PLMJ Mega Wave presented a set of sessions linked to security, intellectual property, gaming, social networks, journalism and entertainment, which took a technical and practical approach to the greatest challenges of the present and future of the areas of law and technology.

PLMJ's Deadline Management System also merited recognition by the FT, which listed PLMJ as a "recommended” firm in the category of Technology. This innovation is based on artificial intelligence and its objective is to automate certain litigation-related processes, including the analysis of notifications and the recording of deadlines.

In the Legal Expertise category, the FT highlighted the performance of the PLMJ M&A led by Diogo Perestrelo in the category of Managing Complexity and Scale. This recognition was the result of PLMJ’s work on the second phase of the privatisation of TAP.

Now in its 11th edition, the FT Innovative Lawyers Report is one of the leading rankings in the European legal sector. Its analysis of the sector is unique in that it evaluates lawyers' power to innovate, not only in their work client, but also in managing their own internal processes.
