Maria João Mata and André Figueiredo, both PLMJ partners, were among the winners at the Iberian Lawyer 40 under Forty awards, which honour the 40 best lawyers on the Iberian Peninsula under the age of 40. PLMJ was the most successful Portuguese law firm, with two winning lawyers out of a total of 10 from Portugal.

Maria João Mata, who heads PLMJ’s M&A team, said: "It’s a great honour for me to receive the 40 under Forty award from Iberian Lawyer, and I would like to thank the jury for choosing me. The award is a great milestone in my professional career and one that both recognises the past and is an incentive for the future.

André Figueiredo, who heads PLMJ’s capital markets team, added: "I’m very honoured and pleased to receive this award, because it recognises a varied career that involved making some risky decisions. It also brings extra motivation to face the great challenge of leading PLMJ’s capital markets practice.”

The PLMJ partners received their awards from Iberian Lawyer last night at a ceremony where PLMJ was represented by its managing partner, Luís Pais Antunes.

These awards, which have enormous international prestige, are important in recognising and consolidating PLMJ’s strategy which, over almost 50 years of history, has succeeded in building successive generations of legal teams that are unparalleled in the market.
