About Virgílio


Virgílio is an associate in the EU and Competition law practice. He focuses on restrictive practices, including proceedings before the Portuguese Competition Authority under the leniency and settlement programmes. Virgílio also has significant experience in dealing with state aid cases before the European Commission.

His professional experience includes advising on cases in the areas of transport, insurance, distribution and consumer goods.

Previously, he was a trainee in the unit of the Directorate-General for Competition of the European Commission responsible for the European Competition Network and Private Enforcement (actions for damages).

Virgílio has an MA (Master of Arts) in EU Competition Law from King’s College London and is now a PhD Candidate at the same university. He is also the author of articles appearing in the European Competition Law Review, European State Aid Law Quarterly, Journal of Competition Law and Practice, Italian Antitrust Review, among others.
