Managing associate.
João is a managing associate. He has 14 years’ experience in legal practice, with a focus on international work and, in particular, the Angolan market, but also on multi-jurisdictional transactions including Dubai and Mozambique.
João has assisted multinational companies from sectors such as banking and finance, mining and minerals, and oil and gas. He also has experience in mergers and acquisitions and works regularly on restructuring processes. João advises on foreign investment and foreign exchange issues, particularly in relation to international investment and multi-jurisdictional contracts.
He is admitted to the Portuguese and Angolan Bar Associations, and he is a candidate for the New York State bar.
João has an LL.M. from New York Fordham University in banking, corporate and finance law, and he completed a postgraduate course management and company law at the Faculty of Economics of Universidade Nova de Lisboa. He participates regularly in conferences and seminars on mining and oil and gas issues.
Before joining PLMJ, he was a lawyer at the law firm Miranda, at its Lisbon and Luanda offices.
