About Serena

Serena is a partner and co-head of the Tax practice. She is also the head of the PLMJ Italian Desk. She has over 20 years’ experience and is recognised as a tax law specialist by the Portuguese Bar Association. Specifically dedicated to tax litigation, Serena represents a wide range of Portuguese and international companies in significant tax cases before the courts.

With a law degree from the University of Lisbon and a postgraduate qualification in tax from the Higher Institute of Management, she is also an arbitrator in tax matters at the Administrative Arbitration Centre.

Serena is a guest lecturer at Universidade Católica Portuguesa where she teaches the tax law module of the degree in law. Since 2009, she has been responsible for the subjects of advanced corporate income tax and tax proceedings in the postgraduate course in tax. She is also jointly responsible for the subject of litigation and arbitration in the tax master’s.

Serena is the author of numerous articles and publications in the area of tax. Just one highlight is her co-authorship of the Manual de Contencioso e Arbitragem (Manual of Litigation and Arbitration) published in 2017.
