About Maria

Maria is a senior associate in the Employment and Labour practice and has around 25 years’ experience focusing on employment and labour law and advising private clients.

In the area of labour, she advises on hiring of employees and termination of employment contracts, including collective dismissals and redundancies, and on organisation of working time.

In the area of private clients, she advises on all aspects of family and inheritance law.

Maria also has formidable negotiating skills with proven results, as wells as formal training as a certified conflicts mediator at the ICFML.

She graduated in law from the Faculty of Law of the University of Porto and completed postgraduate courses in building and construction law and labour law and labour process, both at Universidade Católica Portuguesa in Porto.

Maria lectured in civil procedural practice at the Porto Training Centre of the Portuguese Bar Association (2007-2009).

Before joining PLMJ, she was a founding partner of the law firm Cavaleiro Brandão, Pinheiro Torres, Cabral, Sousa e Silva e Associados.
