Chambers Global 2015 recognises PLMJ’s leadership and internationalisation

18/03/2015

The directory Chambers Global 2015, which evaluates business law practice in more than 180 countries, has maintained PLMJ’s position at the top of the profession, with all the practice areas analysed ranked in Bands 1 and 2. PLMJ is also the Portuguese firm with the largest number of Desks and lawyers ranked as foreign experts, and these results reflect and recognise PLMJ’s focus on internationalisation.

Besides partnerships in Angola and Mozambique, PLMJ is also known for its partnership in China with Dacheng Law Offices, and for its China Desk in Portugal. Chambers also recognises the work done by PLMJ’s other Desks - German, Italian, Brazilian and French, and, in particular, its Swiss Desk, which has entered the rankings for the first time in the Corporate/M&A - Foreign Desks category.

All these rankings highlight PLMJ’s experience in advising international clients from a range of countries and recognise the lawyers responsible for the firm’s partnerships and areas of specialisation.

As for the actual rankings, PLMJ is recommended in Band 1 for Corporate /M&A and Dispute Resolution and in Band 2 for Capital Markets, Banking and Finance and Projects. This means PLMJ has maintained the position it achieved last year. For the international offices, GLM – Gabinete Legal Moçambique, a member of PLMJ International Legal Network, was the only firm in Mozambique to receive a higher ranking this year and is now recommended in Band 2. GLA – Gabinete Legal Angola maintained its 2014 ranking.

PLMJ also performed very strongly in the individual rankings, with 21 distinctions shard between 15 lawyers. Partner José Miguel Júdice maintained his distinction as a “Star Individual” in dispute resolution, and partner Luís Sáragga Leal maintained  his as “Senior Statesman” in corporate/ M&A.

These recommendations by this leading British directory are a clear mark of recognition of the work of PLMJ’s lawyers, which is seen as going beyond expectations in the different practice areas and countries where they work.
