PLMJ organises two major conferences in Lisbon and Porto on “The 2017 State Budget and the new taxation of assets”

As in previous years, PLMJ Tax has organised two major conferences on the 2017 State Budget. The conferences will take place in Lisbon on 25 October and in Porto on 26 October. The aim of the conference “The 2017 State Budget and the new taxation of assets” is to provide an opportunity to analyse and debate the main tax changes provided for in the 2017 State Budget plan.

The first conference will take place in Lisbon on Tuesday, 25 October, at Centro Cultural de Belém and the guest speaker will be economist and non-executive vice president of SIBS, Vítor Bento, who will provide his overview of the budget proposal. A number of PLMJ tax specialists will also speak at the conferences. They are Nuno Cunha Barnabé, the partner who heads PLMJ Tax, partners João Magalhães Ramalho, Serena Cabrita Neto and Miguel C. Reis and senior associates Filipe Abreu, Maria Inês Assis and Priscila Santos. They will address topics including “income tax”, “banking secrecy and exchange of information”, “taxation of assets” and “tax forgiveness and tax justice”. The moderator for the debate will be journalist Helena Garrido.

The second session will take place in Porto at the Serralves library on Thursday, 26 October beginning at 9 a.m. The guest speaker will be Cidália Mota Lopes, a professor at the Coimbra Business School. This event will also feature PLMJ tax specialists Nuno Cunha Barnabé, the partner who heads PLMJ Tax, partner Miguel C. Reis, managing associate João Velez de Lima, senior associate Francisco Castro Guedes and associate Mafalda Coelho Moreira. They will analyse the same topics as in the Lisbon conference and the debate will be moderated by the editor and and journalist Víctor Ferreira.
