The role of MGA's in the Portuguese insurance market

André Abrantes, managing associate in PLMJ's Banking and Finance and Capital Markets practice, has written an opinion article for Eco Seguros on the role of MGAs in the Portuguese insurance market.

In the article, the PLMJ specialist analyses managing general agents and states that in Portugal "...an MGA can be considered as an insurance distributor. However, as we've seen, the term doesn't really reflect the range of functions they perform, which are closer to a true subcontracting of insurance company services than to true insurance distribution".
