A strategic vision of large-scale projects

João Marques Mendes and Maria Zagallo have written an article on the need to think about smart and flexible public policies in Portugal, particularly in the turbulent times we are living through. For the two partners from PLMJ's Public Law, Projects and Energy practices, the way forward lies in the business sector's ability to speak with a single voice, to anticipate trends, and to respond to the challenges - sector-specific, environmental, social, economic, financial or technical - that arise.

The article followed the 1st Energy and Projects Congress, which was organised by Almedina and coordinated by PLMJ for 10 and 11 November. The aim of the congress is to contribute to building and consolidating a national strategy that brings together the public and private sectors in a common plan for the energy sector and major projects that have the power and capacity to catapult the country to the forefront of Europe.
