How the Climate Law may change the Portuguese economy

Diogo Duarte Campos, the partner who heads the Public Law practice, João Marques Mendes, partner and joint head of the Energy practice, and Raquel Freitas, a managing associate in the Public Law practice, have written an opinion article on the economic impact of climate change in Portugal for Legal Business' The Euro Elite 2022 report.

The article comes in the wake of the important legal measure that Portugal has taken with the recognition of a climate emergency situation. This measure establishes objectives and guidelines to achieve an ecological balance and combat climate change.

PLMJ's team of lawyers concludes that, although it is undeniable that this new regulation is ambitious, its may fail to be effective if it is not implemented or only exists in theory.
