Nuno Ferreira Morgado, the partner who co-heads PLMJ's Employment and Labour practice, argues for a mechanism – along with lay-offs – whereby, in certain economic circumstances, companies may temporarily reduce salaries without destroying jobs. In an interview with the newspaper Jornal Económico, the PLMJ lawyer spoke about the main issues on the agenda. He stressed that "Poverty pockets are not solved with permanent contracts" and he also considered that the Green Paper on the future of work, presented by the Government, is "completely out of touch with reality" because the majority of the issues were defined before the pandemic, in times of economic strength, and do not respond to current concerns where priorities have completely changed.
