PLMJ at the First International Congress of Portuguese-speaking Lawyers

PLMJ partners, Manuel Santos Vítor, Sofia Gomes da Costa, Sónia Teixeira da Mota, Tiago Mendonça de Castro, Pedro Melo, Duarte Schmidt Lino, Rita Assis Ferreira, Nuno Frota, Mariana Cobra (a lawyer from TozinniFreire on secondment at PLMJ) and Telma Pires de Lima will be present at the first international congress of Portuguese-speaking lawyers. Their presence is a reflection of PLMJ’s commitment to internationalisation across the Portuguese-speaking countries.

The Union of Portuguese-speaking Lawyers (UALP) will hold the first international congress of Portuguese-speaking lawyers between 22 and 24 March 2010, in Lisbon.

The congress will bring together Portuguese-speaking from all over the world and the central theme of the congress will be "The Challenges for Portuguese-speaking legal professional in a world without borders". The participants will debate the following issues: "The prerogatives of lawyers as guarantees for citizens", "Legal professional privilege" and "Compulsory enrolment".
