PLMJ lawyers write chapter on Portugal in Chambers Private Equity 2021 Guide

The Chambers Private Equity 2021 Guide features a special contribution from, Duarte Schmidt Lino, the partner who co-heads PLMJ's Corporate M&A team, and Tomás Almeida Ribeiro, associate and João Serras de Sousa, associate, both from the same team

The PLMJ team responsible for the article takes a look back at the Portuguese economy during the pandemic and offers its forecast for the near future. The article deals in particular with private equity, an industry that has grown in Portugal, and the lawyers highlight its relevance "in the much needed capitalisation of Portuguese companies". The authors also anticipate changes in the private equity ecosystem in Portugal as a result of the disinvestment in restructuring funds, R&D funds and the Portuguese Golden Visa programme. As for trends, the dominant themes are deal terms and structuring, material adverse change or material adverse effect clauses and warranty and indemnity insurance.
