06/09/2021

PLMJ makes an appearance at the first major conference on medicinal cannabis in Portugal.

PLMJ specialists Eduardo Nogueira Pinto, the partner who heads the firm's Healthcare, Life Sciences & Pharmaceuticals practice, and Pedro Lomba, the partner who heads PLMJ's Technology, Mobility and Communications practice, are speakers on the panel on legal issues: "Medicinal Cannabis Legislation Framework & Licensing and Submission - Pre-licence to Licence".
The medical cannabis industry has grown exponentially in recent years with the legalisation of the sale of these products in various European countries. In Portugal, it is estimated that this market has a potential to reach EUR 3.2 billion by 2025.

In this context, the medical cannabis industry and all stakeholders involved face the main challenge of interpreting and complying with EU-GACP and EU-GMP regulations. They need to do so to be able to place on the market, products based on the cannabis plant for medicinal purposes that demonstrate consistency, quality, efficacy and that are safe for the patient.

The conference takes place on 16 and 17 September in Lisbon.
