Paulo Farinha Alves to speak at renowned international conference

Paulo Farinha Alves, a partner from PLMJ Criminal Law, White Collar Defence and Compliance, is to speak at the 20th edition of the Transnational Crime Conference, and PLMJ is one of the official sponsors of this event. The conference is organised by the International Bar Association and will take place at the Hotel Sheraton Lisboa between 17 and 19 May.

Paulo Farinha Alves is a member of the panel entitled “Mad or bad? Exploring approaches across jurisdictions to ethical and practical questions surrounding genetic predisposition to crime and diminished capacity”. The discussion will centre around topics including the implications of recent scientific discoveries relating to the link between certain genes and violent crime and the attitude to states induced by alcohol and drugs in cases of diminished responsibility.
