Serena Cabrita Neto, a PLMJ partner since 2012, is the new head of PLMJ’s Tax practice in Lisbon.

"I was very motivated to commit myself to the challenge to lead a team recognised in Portugal and internationally as an example of PLMJ’s excellence in legal services. And this is something we continue to focus on", says the lawyer.

Serena is specifically dedicated to tax litigation and she acts for a range of Portuguese and international companies in significant cases before the tax courts. She has also received a number of international awards in her more than 20 years of experience as a lawyer. A frequent presence in major international directories Chambers Europe, The Legal 500 and Best Lawyers, Serena enjoys top rankings as a lawyer in the area of taxation.

Serena is a guest lecturer at Universidade Católica Portuguesa where she has been responsible for the subjects of advanced corporate income tax and tax proceedings in the postgraduate course in tax since 2009. She is also jointly responsible for the subject of litigation and arbitration in the tax master’s.

With her responsibilities, Serena Cabrita Neto now heads a team that includes senior associates Dinis Tracana, Filipe Abreu and Priscilla Santos, together with other lawyers and consultants. She will be at the helm for the current process of restructuring PLMJ’s tax practice, which is part of the firm’s continuing focus on the quality of the tax law services it provides to its clients. The restructuring in Lisbon follows on from the significant strengthening of the Porto team, led by partner Miguel C. Reis, which includes another partner, João Velez de Lima and a further 10 lawyers and consultants.

PLMJ was named Portugal Tax Firm of the Year in 2016 by International Tax Review and it appears in Tier 1 in the internationally recognised directories, The Legal 500 and Chambers Europe.
