03/05/2021

In today's Portuguese language podcast, we talk to António Júlio Duarte, a Portuguese photographer and artist body and soul for 30 years. He lives and works in Lisbon and has been one of the most consistent voices in the understanding of photography today. Since 1990, his work has been exhibited regularly in Portugal and abroad and he has a portfolio of many solo exhibitions, the last one during the pandemic at the Galeria Bruno Múrias which was entitled: "Eclipse". He is the author of several photography books including "White Noise", which was chosen as one of the best photography books of 2011, by Photo-Eye. His work is represented in various contemporary art collections in Portugal and abroad, and it is also represented in the PLMJ Foundation Collection - the oldest work dates from 1993 and was acquired in 2000 at the beginning of the collection. António Júlio Duarte is our guest today on the PLMJ Podcast to talk to us about photography, his, but also the current photography panorama and how the pandemic is affecting this art. João Silvério, the curator of the PLMJ Foundation, also joins us.
