Preview 2026 | EU and Competition Law

The year 2026 will see the Portuguese Competition Authority (ADC) adopting a more active role, supported by the use of artificial intelligence tools.

According to Martim Valente, senior counsel in the EU and Competition Law practice, some of the key issues this year will include private enforcement, which could lead to the first hearings, an increase in ADC investigations due to greater data collection in 2025, as well as its focus on more 'trendy' topics, particularly AI.
