About Joana

Joana holds a degree in Law from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon. She also has a postgraduate qualification in law enforcement, compliance and corporate responsibility and a postgraduate qualification in criminal investigation and evidence law from the same faculty. She has also completed a course in compliance for the prevention of corruption at the Faculty of Law of Universidade NOVA de Lisboa.

With more than 10 years' experience in legal practice, Joana's work has focused on handling criminal and regulatory offences. In particular, she has specialised in economic and financial crime, including abuse of trust, fraud, computer fraud, document forgery, money laundering and tax fraud.

Besides her procedural work, Joana has been working in the area of compliance, drawing up and overseeing the corresponding programmes, including codes of conduct, risk prevention plans and whistleblowing channels.
