António Pedro Pinto Monteiro is the 5th member of PLMJ Arbitration to earn a PhD


António Pedro Pinto Monteiro, a senior associate from PLMJ Arbitration, has completed the first PhD course in arbitration law at the Faculty of Law of Universidade Nova de Lisboa. António focused on procedural law and his doctoral thesis was on the principle of equality and plurality of parties in arbitration. It was the first PhD thesis in Portugal in arbitration.

The other members of the PLMJ Arbitration team who have earned PhDs are Mariana França Gouveia, Rui Soares Pereira, Rui Barroso de Moura and Tiago Duarte.

The PLMJ Arbitration team is coordinated by partners José Miguel Júdice and Pedro Metelo de Nápoles. In 2017, the team was recognised for the fourth consecutive year by Global Arbitration Review, where it appears on the list of the world’s 100 best arbitration law firms.
