Luís Miguel Urbano and Rita Albuquerque’s work advising TripAdvisor on the purchase of BestTables featured in Diário Económico

PLMJ advised TripAdvisor on the purchase of the Portuguese company BestTables. As announced yesterday, the world’s largest travel and reservations site acquired the Portuguese start-up, and its management team and staff.

The Portuguese company caught the eye of US giant TripAdvisor because of its growth in Brazil where BestTables had 400 member restaurants São Paulo.

The deal was handled by PLMJ’s M&A practice coordinated by partner Miguel Urbano, working with senior associate Rita Albuquerque. These two lawyers were assisted by a team with extensive experience and know-how in acquisitions cross-border deals.

Miguel Urbano described the deal as “A significant and challenging deal that involved working directly with TripAdvisor and a law firm in Brazil.”
