Informative Note

Coronavirus: Impact on the operation of pharmacies

Exceptional measures have been approved to ensure people have access to pharmacies and to the medicines and health products they need.

Faced with the current COVID-19 pandemic, pharmacies must comply with additional requirements relating to their operation, service to the public, dispensation of medicines, and hygiene and safety.

In particular, measures have been introduced to ensure medicines are dispensed carefully and to allow pharmacies to dispense prescription medicines to chronically ill patients even if they do not have a prescription.

The aim of this note is to provide information to pharmacies on the new demands they face and the implications for their operations.
