Coronavirus: Restrictions on exports of vaccines against COVID‑19
05/02/2021The European Commission has adopted new regulations banning unauthorised exports of covid-19 vaccines to many countries outside the European Union.
In this brief note, Eduardo Nogueira Pinto and Filipe Brito Bastos, of the Health, Life Sciences and Pharmaceutical Working Group, examine the procedure for issuing export authorisation.
In particular, the division of labour between national authorities and the Commission in this procedure creates doubts from the point of view of the rights of companies exporting covid-19 vaccines.
