Programme of Public Investment of Touristic Interest for the Algarve

11/03/2015

The Programme of Public Investment of Touristic Interest for the Algarve (Programa de Investimentos Públicos de Interesse Turístico para o Algarve - PIPITAL) was initially approved in 1997 by a Joint Order of the Secretaries of State of Regional Development and of Commerce and Tourism dated 31 March. The aim of this programme is to improve the framework for tourism in the Algarve and to regenerate and promote tourism facilities in the region.

Recently, through Order number 2129 of 27 February, the period of application of PIPITAL has been extended to 31 December 2018. The aim of this extension is to make it possible to continue to pursue the objectives of bringing value to the region as a tourist destination, by regenerating areas destined for tourism, and improving environmental quality and the planning of areas relevant for tourism.
