Tiago Duarte speaks to Diário Económico about CIMPOR’s co-incineration victory

The newspaper Diário Económico spoke to Tiago Duarte about the recent decision of the Supreme Administrative Court allowing Cimpor to restart co-incineration processes for industrial waste at the Souselas plant. Tiago, a PLMJ partner in the public law practice area and professor of administrative law at Lisbon’s Universidade Nova, had been following the case.

Tiago pointed out that the court found the claim that the co-incineration of industrial waste is a danger to public health had not been proved. He went on to say that the court’s decision is doubly important because it brings to an end a legal battle that has gone on for several years and also because the decision will be an important point of reference in case law in the future.
