About Joana

Joana is a senior counsel in the Technology, Media and Telecommunications practice and has more than 15 years' experience.

She specialises in advising on digital law, data protection, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence and advises clients in the financial, technology and industrial sectors on privacy, data governance, regulatory compliance and digital transformation.

Joana focuses particularly on artificial intelligence projects, digital platforms, data monetisation and emerging technologies. She assists organisations with implementing compliance programmes, managing risk and developing legal strategies for complex digital environments. Her practice also covers cybersecurity matters, including incident response, data breaches and regulatory risk mitigation.

She holds a law degree from NOVA School of Law and postgraduate qualifications in intellectual property law and in personal data protection from the same institution. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Law and Economics at the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra.

Joana is the author and co-author of numerous publications on artificial intelligence, data protection, technology and digital regulation.
