Rute is a senior counsel in the Dispute Resolution practice and has more than 10 years' experience in dispute resolution. In recent years, she has focused on domestic and international arbitration, particularly in the areas of corporate, financial, commercial, energy, project and infrastructure disputes.
Rute was coordinator of the Under-40 Council of the Portuguese Arbitration Association (APA). She is currently secretary of its general meeting and coordinator of the Under-40 Council of the Coimbra International Arbitration Meetings, as well as a member of various professional associations.
In addition to her legal practice, Rute has experience as an arbitrator and secretary to arbitral tribunals.
She holds an LL.M. in Comparative and International Dispute Resolution from Queen Mary University of London and a master's degree in business law from NOVA School of Law. She also attended the postgraduate programme in energy law at Católica Lisbon School of Law.
Rute has published articles on various arbitration topics, including the production of witness evidence, challenges to arbitral awards, and the duties of disclosure, independence and impartiality of arbitrators. She also actively participates as an arbitrator in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot.
Rute's experience also extends to other areas. She was a mediator in consumer disputes at UMAC, an assistant to the Secretary of State for the Presidency of the Council of Ministers of the 18th Constitutional Government, and a research assistant for Portugal at LexisNexis, Reed Elsevier (UK), in London.
