01/04/2020

PLMJ has promoted eight of its lawyers to the position of senior associate in pursuit of one of the firm’s strategic objectives: to promote internal talent and strengthen the seniority of its teams.

For PLMJ managing partner Luis Pais Antunes, “the appointments recognise the extraordinary work of these lawyers who represent exactly what we want to see in the new generation of this firm: minds that are bold and innovative in creating legal solutions, truly critical spirits and future leaders capable of inspiring the younger lawyers”.

The new PLMJ senior associates are:

  • Cristiano Dias (Banking, financial and corporate litigation)
  • João Maria Mota de Campos (German Desk)
  • Manuel Sequeira (Corporate M&A) Pedro Rosa (Employment and labour)
  • Sara Lemos de Meneses (Banking and finance, and capital markets)

In PLMJ Colab, which includes the PLMJ’s associate firms in Angola and Mozambique, Emmanuel da Silva and Elsa Tchicanha (BCSA - Angola) and Natércia Sitoe (TTA - Mozambique) have also been promoted to senior associates.

“The appointment of these new senior associates has come at a time when the world is going through a period of great difficulty, worry and uncertainty in both economic and social terms. Nonetheless, regardless of the current uncertainties, nothing is more certain than the future and the future is built with people. At PLMJ, our focus on the medium and long term, and our commitment to recognising the talent we have in house, will always be at the forefront of our priorities, no matter how great the difficulties we are facing” says Luís Pais Antunes.

With these appointments, PLMJ now has 58 senior associates, 24 managing associates, and 53 partner, among a total of 287 lawyers. PLMJ remains the Portuguese law firm with the highest level of seniority.
