Revision of the Renewable Energy Directive (RED II)

The promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources (RED II) was revised after a long period of negotiations between Member States.

This new Directive must be incorporated into the legal systems of each Member State by 21 May 2025. However, some specific measures, such as the acceleration of the authorisation procedure for renewable energy projects, must be implemented by 1 July 2024.

The aim of this guide is to summarise the changes that may have the greatest impact on the Portuguese market.
