The German company cargo.one was advised by PLMJ on the acquisition of the Portuguese maritime freight quotation platform Cargofive.
Cargo.one uses AI technology to provide air, sea and road freight rates via direct integration with 75 airlines, 10 of the largest shipping companies, and dozens of GSAs (General Sales Agents). It offers carriers multiple digital distribution channels for online bookings and fare distribution to 30,000 freight forwarders in 172 countries, along with real-time analytics and AI agents for sales and customer support.
Portuguese start-up Cargofive has developed AI-integrated technology to digitise the complexities of maritime transport. This transaction unifies air and sea transport data in a single AI-native operating system.
The PLMJ team advised cargo.one on structuring, negotiating and completing the acquisition of Cargofive. The team was co-led by partner Alexander Ehlert and senior associate Ana Nunes Teixeira, and included lawyers Mariana Teles and Luiza Toniolo, all from the Corporate M&A practice.
