Managing associate in the Dispute Resolution practice.
Raquel is a managing associate in the Dispute Resolution practice. She has over 10 years of experience and a solid, cross-cutting practice in civil and commercial litigation, economic criminal law and compliance, administrative offences, and insolvency and restructuring.
She is renowned for her strategic approach, her ability to manage complex cases, and her client-focused approach, ensuring she delivers effective legal solutions geared towards concrete results. Raquel has represented Portuguese and international clients in highly complex litigation, particularly focusing on contractual disputes, civil liability, investigations, credit recovery, and regulatory litigation.
She has experience in all stages of proceedings, from pre-litigation advice to judicial and enforcement phases, and is particularly skilled in coordinating legal and reputational risk. Raquel also has extensive experience in highly regulated sectors such as telecommunications, banking, energy, transport and industry.
Raquel holds a master's degree in Civil and Business Law, as well as completing a postgraduate course in Corporate Restructuring and Recovery at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa. She has also completed advanced training in criminal law and artificial intelligence at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, as well as a postgraduate course in compliance and corruption prevention at the Faculty of Law of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa. Additionally, she completed an executive training programme at Headspring in Madrid — a collaboration between the Financial Times and IE Business School — designed to develop management, leadership and strategic thinking skills.
She is a member of the Fórum Penal, an association of criminal lawyers, and prior to joining PLMJ, she was a lawyer at Uría Menéndez.
