About João Tiago
João Tiago is a partner in the Dispute Resolution practice and has more than 20 years' experience.
He specialises in dispute resolution, focusing on civil, commercial, corporate and financial litigation. He has acted for clients across a range of sectors, including banking, industry, information technology, healthcare, real estate and consumer goods.
João Tiago holds a master's degree in civil law from Católica Lisbon School of Law. His master's thesis on escrow agreements was subsequently published and examined the legal framework applicable to this type of contractual arrangement.
Since 2000, he has been a lecturer in private law at Católica Lisbon School of Law. He has taught on the undergraduate law programme in subjects including the law of obligations, performance and non-performance of obligations, rights in rem, family law and inheritance law. He has also taught on postgraduate programmes in areas including civil liability and contract law.
Before joining PLMJ, he was a partner at Serra Lopes, Cortes Martins & Associados, where he headed the litigation and arbitration practice.
