About Maria

Maria is a senior associate in the Projects and Energy and Public Law practices.

She has experience in public and regulatory law, particularly in the energy and natural resources sector, and specialises in M&A and financing transactions, project development, licensing, regulatory matters and the negotiation of project contracts. She also focuses on renewable energy, hydrogen and other renewable gases, advising Portuguese and international sponsors, developers, investors and financing institutions in Portugal, Cape Verde and Mozambique.

Maria completed the curricular component of the Master's Law and Management at Católica Lisbon School of Law. She also attended the postgraduate course in energy law at Católica Lisbon School of Law, the Power Purchase Academy programme at Pexapark and an executive course on European Hydrogen Legislation at the Florence School of Regulation, Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies, European University Institute.

Before joining PLMJ, she was a lawyer in the Energy and Natural Resources practice at VdA – Vieira de Almeida & Associados and was seconded as in-house counsel to one of Portugal's leading electricity producers.
