Regulating toys in the digital era

12/02/2026
The new European Union Regulation

The new European Union Toy Safety Regulation (the “Regulation”) was adopted.

This Regulation replaces the European Parliament and Council Report, which identified shortcomings and inconsistencies in various areas, such as provisions on chemicals and difficulties in market surveillance, among others.

To ensure compliance with the Regulation, manufacturers, importers, distributors and marketplaces can map their product portfolio to identify toys containing prohibited or restricted substances and plan their reduction or replacement.
