PLMJ advised Macquarie Asset Management on the acquisition of two European student accommodation platforms, MILESTONE and BaseStack Living.
Together, these platforms manage more than 12,000 beds in six different European markets, namely Portugal, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Poland, and Italy. The transaction was executed simultaneously in Vienna, Lisbon, Berlin, Amsterdam, Warsaw, and Milan.
PLMJ advised on the part of the transaction relating to the operation of the platforms in Portugal, and Greenberg Traurig's London office coordinated the entire transaction in the various jurisdictions covered by the acquired platforms.
In Portugal, the transaction was led by Ricardo Reigada Pereira, co-coordinating partner of the Real Estate and Tourism practice, and was supported by a multidisciplinary team:
- Real Estate and Tourism: Hélder Santos Correia, coordinating associate, Tatiana Pardal Pires, associate, Marta Vanzeles, associate, Pedro Marques da Costa, associate, and Miguel André Martins, trainee lawyer.
- Labor: Nuno Ferreira Morgado, partner and co-coordinator, Júlia Mendes da Costa, senior associate, and André Barbieri, associate.
With this acquisition, Macquarie Asset Management solidifies its international expansion strategy, diversifying and expanding its portfolio in private markets.
