PLMJ advises Rewilding Portugal on a pioneering legal solution for nature conservation

PLMJ provided pro bono advice to Rewilding Portugal on a pioneering initiative marking a new step forward in the legal protection of nature in Portugal.

For the first time, a surface right has been used to permanently set aside a plot of private land for ecological restoration, demonstrating the law's potential to support innovative conservation solutions.

This solution emerged from the legal advice provided to The Lifescape Project, which involved lawyers from various practice areas within the firm and was led by Duarte Schmidt Lino, a Corporate M&A partner. Sofia Coutinho, a senior professional support lawyer in the Real Estate and Tourism practice, coordinated the structuring and implementation of the surface rights.
