About José João

José João is a managing associate in the Employment and Labour practice and has more than 10 years' experience.

He advises Portuguese and international clients on employment, labour and social security matters, ranging from day-to-day advice to employment litigation.

He has a particular focus on restructuring and international transactions, transfers of undertakings, redundancies, international mobility, remuneration and benefits plans, and pension funds. His ability to work in multidisciplinary teams enables him to advise clients on sensitive and highly complex multi-jurisdictional matters.

He has advised clients across a wide range of sectors, including energy, information technology, healthcare, insurance, services, transport and retail.

José João holds a master's degree in employment and labour law from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon and is a member of the Portuguese Labour Law Association and CIELO – the Community for Employment and Labour Research.

Before joining PLMJ, he was a lawyer at Linklaters' Lisbon office and SRS Advogados.
